The content site was the part that was most familiar to me, since it's similar to what I do for my blog
that I totally don't neglect. I really like the theme I chose, which was Newspiper, and I enjoyed customizing it so that it fit
the aesthetic of the commerce site with the pinks and purples. I also enjoyed experimenting with the different blocks
and messing with videos and creating borders for my images. However, I'm not 100% happy with how the homepage
looks. I like the cloud of tags toward the bottom, but for the list of recent posts, the images feel too close to the description
and I couldn't figure out how to space them out. Still, this was familiar territory for me, so I was very comfortable with creating and organizing
new posts.
What was completely unfamiliar to me was making an online store. It's something I had always wanted to do, just for the sake of practice. I mean,
if I ever make a comic, I'd love for there to be merch available someday, so this was excellent practice for me! It was weirdly satisfying creating all
the different products, especially since I absolutely adore macarons. I also like the colors that I chose. It took a while for me to settle on that shade
of pink. But to me, it still feels a little plain. I kept the Storefront theme because I wasn't a big fan of the others, but I wish I had searched
for more widgets and plugins to spice things up a bit. I tried with the Macaron of the Month and the new flavor, though, and I do like how those look!
This project just made me even more excited to make my own, functioning store one day!
