We are an elite group of Celestials chosen to patrol the multiverse and protect those within it. In this new age of interdimensional travel, it is more crucial than ever to ensure that our dimensions remain stable and free from glitches.
Potential recruits are selected personally by Her Majesty for their exceptional abilities and talents. Recruits are often chosen at a young age, between infancy and four years old, and are taken to Her Majesty's castle to train.
Recruits are trained to follow the code of the Timekeepers, the laws of the gods, and how to harness their powers. They are also given flight and combat training, with yearly exams to determine who has the most promise. Those who fail their exams are expelled and are often transferred to lower positions in Her Majesty's kingdom or transferred to another god.
This culminates in a final exam, administered to recruits when they reach the age of 18. If they fail, they are transferred. If they pass, however, they are named a Timekeeper-elect, making them eligible to become a member. While waiting for an opening, Timekeeper-elects often hold esteemed positions, frequently as advisors to Her Majesty, supervisors, or instructors to new recruits.
When there is an opening, all eligible Timekeeper-elects are brought before Her Majesty, the current members of the Timekeepers, and the member being replaced, if they are alive and have not gone rogue. The Timekeeper-elects are given one final test and are judged by Her Majesty and the Timekeepers. While Her Majesty alone ultimately decides who is chosen, all current members can offer their input, as well as the Timekeeper being replaced, assuming they are alive and loyal. Her Majesty then announces the name of the Celestial chosen, and in a grand ceremony, they are bestowed a Timekeeper's Core and become an official member of the Timekeepers.
The primary responsibility of any Timekeeper is patrolling the multiverse for instabilities. In many dimensions, interdimensional travel has become increasingly common and accessible to the common entity. While this new age presents many new opportunities, glitches have become far more common. Glitches form when a foreign entity is introduced to a dimension. While they tend to be very mild, when left unchecked, they can corrupt, consume, and destroy entire worlds.
The work of a Timekeeper is essential to protect everyone across the multiverse from these glitches. We are the sole line of defense between beings and these instabilities. Failure to destroy these glitches could lead to irreperable harm.
Outside of glitch management, an important duty of any Timekeeper is apprehending interdimensional criminals. We do not go after just any petty crook- we target criminals who pose a serious thread to an entire world, perhaps multiple. The most common we encounter are rogue Celestials. These rebels have forsaken their gods and instead choose to live outside of the divine law. These rogues often conspire to remove the gods from power, with many claiming responsibility for major attacks across the multiverse.
As we patrol these worlds for glitches, we also maintain a watchful eye for any wrongdoers we come across. If one is encountered, they should be apprehended immediately. If that criminal is a rogue, then they should be returned to the god they previously served. Should they resist, we are authorized to use any force necessary.
